From the 3rd of May to the 5th of May 2022, the New Vocabulary Training course of the Inclusion Vocabulary (2020-1-PTO1-KA201-078604) project took place, in the fantastic panorama of the city of Madrid.
It was a key moment for the Inclusion Vocabulary project, which main aim is the amelioration of verbal expressions’ choices regarding sexual orientation and gender identity. The project answers to the necessity of eliminating discriminatory words and expressions from the environment of LGBTQI+ students and teachers and replacing them with ones that express respect and acceptance. Because it is necessary to create positive and inclusive environments in schools for all students regardless of sexual orientation and gender identity.
The training was an occasion to present and combine the different contents that characterised the modules of the online training that will be developed in the next steps of the project. The main added value was the fruitful and continuous exchange between the teachers who come from different educational realities as: Spain, Italy, Bulgaria, Portugal, Greece and Serbia. They had the opportunity to meet and increase their knowledge of the LGBTQI+ community in the schools’ contexts, bringing their unique perspectives and experiences.
For 3 days, the participants had the possibility to find out more in theory but especially in practice about several topics as the importance of communication, some do’s and don’ts related to the LGBTQI+ community; the introduction of new types of families and some of the best practices for students, parents and teachers to implement in the classroom as well as outside, learning also how to deal with the crisis.
The event was a success, a moment of inspiration for future project activities with the hope to build a more inclusive society, in which every human being have the possibility to express their uniqueness, feel respected and find their own place.
